People who are interested in becoming vets should be concerned with the health and care of animals. They will have to work hard in order to complete the steps necessary to become a veterinarian, including:
Completing elementary school
Completing middle school
Completing high school
Attending a four-year college
Completing a doctoral program
Passing an exam to receive a veterinary license
Veterinarians currently earn an average of $91,000 each year for the life-saving work they do for animals, but many decide to work in this field because of their love for animals.
Vets help pets and other animals using the knowledge they learn in school and through their practice. Veterinarians can provide regular care, like check-ups, teeth-brushing, grooming, or vaccinations. They can also operate on animals that have internal conditions or severe injuries. Vets may also make recommendations for changes to the food or exercise routine of animals who are out of shape or overweight.
